This late 1950s Vacheron Constantin reference 6006 is a remarkable expression of post-war modernist design, often referred to by collectors as the “Disco Volante” or Flying Saucer thanks to its wide, stepped bezel. The 34.5 mm diameter case—with a 37 mm lug-to-lug length—is crafted in solid 18K yellow gold and features a sharp, architectural bezel, heavy snap-on caseback, and a discreet recessed crown. The entire silhouette is distinctively bold, yet elegant.
Its original silver dial has developed an even peripheral toning , beautifully framing the applied gold baton markers and Vacheron’s iconic Maltese cross. The minimalist baton hands and small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock complete the restrained, timeless aesthetic.
Inside, the watch is powered by the Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1011—a high-grade 17-jewel manual wind movement adjusted for precision. Recently serviced, it runs in excellent mechanical condition. This piece is a refined and rare example of mid-century Swiss watch design from one of horology’s most prestigious maisons.
